It is Good for me

Today marks the first day of a new book. Right now, I'm reading through Ruth while simultaneously studying Titus. I'm doing this because I want two different perspectives: leadership and friendship. I think both of these books encompass leadership, but in different ways. I'm excited to uncover those differences and similarities so that I can incorporate their truths in my own leadership positions. Specifically, I'm thinking about the fall because a friend and I will be starting a freshmen Bible study/mentoring/accountability group, in which we will be the leaders. So, if I can start now to prepare myself to lead humbly and to give freely I will be better equipped to actually do those things when the time comes.

However, today's blog is going to be quick. Here is a song by Watermark that expresses my recent sentiments (not necessarily of leadership) perfectly. It's a helpful reminder when surrendering doesn't seem so beautiful or so clean, and it is a song that I have been repeating constantly:

You bring life to my bones
And a spring to my step
And a heart that knows what it means
To wait before You.
You bring laughter to my house
And a time to sing and shout
And a heart that knows what it means
To really trust You...

And when the shadow of sorrow comes
I will fall on the only One I know
Is the Rock that won't be shaken...

Chorus
'Cause it is good for me
To lay it down at Your feet
It is good for me to lay the good and bad
In Your hands,
My God, it's good for me
To lay it down at Your feet
It is good for me.

You are the constant One
When my life is overwhelmed
And You stay the same when all around is changing
And, oh, how good it is, yeah
Just to know the life You give
And my song shall ever be
That my God is faithful...

And when the shadow of sorrow comes
I will fall on the only One I know
Is the Rock that won't be shaken...

(Chorus)

And when I delight myself in You
You give me the desires of my heart,
When I confess that You know best
Peace flows like a river and joy comes in the morning.

(Chorus)

  1. Good stuff...I'm curious what you will find on leadership!
